TL;DR - Social media is dumbing the world and that would be very beneficial to a strong central government. 318769
Soo... after talking to my friend.. who happens to be 18, I realized something. My friend is a prime example of the generation coming up to be. I try to have an intellectual conversation.. but I just ended up losing them in mid conversation. I expressed thoughts that went beyond the usual thinking, and she could not follow.
Then it hit me. In our up coming generation... the social media has been portraying sex, drugs, and OTHER SELF WANTS. We want to have nice clothes, a girl friend or boy friend, to have sex, do drugs, drink alcohol, and etc. All of these are selfish needs and human desires. Kids are exposed to this as early as 12 years old, and this is causing them to be self-centered. They become more involved with their needs and wants and become oblivious to things around them. Right now the main attitude I believe of the "Young" generation is... I want to be unique, I don't care unless I have too, enjoy life to the fullest, and it's my life not yours.
All of these.. are nice to do.. but if you really think about it.. all it does is show how selfish these ideals are. To be unique, mainly people want to be unique to differentiate themselves from others and to be noticed. It's all about me is what it sounds like lol, and I don't feel like explaining the rest, but let me ask you these questions.
When all you are focused on are your self wants and needs, do you think you'll notice what the neighbor down the street does? Will you be able to tell if your current mayor just got re-elected? Would you notice if the government passed a law that infringed your right? Better question.. would you care?
Think about it... Social media is slowly taking away our eyes to the world and leaving us blind. And who would this greatly benefit? A strong central powerful government is who would benefit from having its citizens blinded. Prime example... Zimmeran Case and how it over shadow the IRS scandal. Something we all should've known about, but instead we watched on the news about the Zimmerman Case. Another example, music... do I even have to explain?
These are just ideas and thoughts... scary ones though.
